Meraki campus fabric services help you decide whether a supported cloud-managed Cisco fabric fits your sites. We look at access boundaries, failure needs and how the team will run it. We also compare simpler options. If a fabric is the right fit, the work sets out the design and the steps needed to put it into use.
Dashboard clarity
Structure organisations, networks and permissions around real operational ownership.
Consistent sites
Use repeatable standards without ignoring the differences between locations.
Practical operations
Keep cloud management connected to physical links, users and business services.
Understand what the fabric changes
Cisco’s cloud-managed EVPN fabric uses BGP EVPN and VXLAN to deliver logical services over an IP underlay. Dashboard supports the management workflow, while the network still depends on correctly functioning physical links, routing and forwarding. This is a specific architecture, not a promise that every Meraki switch can become a fabric node or that it is interchangeable with Cisco SD-Access.
For a business, the useful question is what problem that architecture solves. A campus with extensive separation needs or difficult service mobility may benefit from a different design. A modest office with straightforward VLANs may not. We document the expected operational benefit and the extra skills and dependencies involved. So the decision is based on a service outcome rather than the appeal of a new platform label.

Check readiness before defining the rollout
Our Meraki campus fabric readiness assessment examines the current topology, equipment, software, licences and service dependencies. It identifies which devices can perform the required roles and which may remain outside the fabric. The review also considers available addressing, current setup and the management network access needed for the proposed operating model.
We ask how the network will be supported after rollout. Engineers need to understand the relationship between endpoint access, underlay transport, overlay reachability and external connections. A dashboard simplifies some workflows but does not remove those layers. Training, monitoring and recovery procedures therefore form part of the business case rather than appearing as an unexpected task after the installation is complete.
A useful starting point
Not sure where to start?
Bring the requirement. We will help you define the engineering work.
Design services and boundaries together
A fabric design identifies the device roles, physical paths, logical networks and external handoffs. Segmentation begins with a description of permitted communication between users, devices and apps. We translate that need into supported mechanisms and identify where extra security enforcement is needed. Routing separation alone should not be presented as a complete security policy.
External connections are often the most important part of the design. Internet access, data-centre services, shared infrastructure and other sites may remain outside the fabric. We find their routing and security owners, then agree how traffic crosses each boundary. A fabric that works internally but cannot reach the correct DNS, authentication or app services is not a useful production outcome.
Different environments. The same care.
Built around the work
your network supports.
Finance, banking and the wider private sector. We start with the systems and people that depend on your connections.
Finance & banking
Market-data paths, routing and provider coordination on clients’ behalf.
Financial-market services ↗Offices & multi-site teams
Reliable access between people, workplaces and business applications.
Office network design ↗Data centres & cloud
Network boundaries, workload connections and operational ownership.
Data centre networks ↗Prove the important behaviours in a pilot
We select a pilot that exercises relevant endpoint types and service paths. It should include more than a small collection of identical laptops. Authentication, shared services, device movement and approved isolation tests help establish whether the design behaves as intended. The tested hardware and software conditions are recorded so the result is not generalised to unsupported combinations elsewhere in the estate.
Resilience tests are chosen to match the design’s claims. Losing a physical link, a fabric node and an external routing path are different events. We observe representative app recovery and protocol state, and record any scenarios that cannot be tested safely. This provides a stronger acceptance record than a diagram showing two of every device without evidence of how the service recovers.
Introduce the fabric in controlled stages
Migration planning identifies what remains on the current network and how the old and new setups coexist. We prepare addressing, gateway transitions, authentication and external routing before moving users. Each wave has entry checks, acceptance criteria and a defined recovery decision. Temporary links or policy exceptions are recorded with removal conditions rather than left as unexplained permanent dependencies.
The change plan also addresses communication with local staff and app owners. A technically small gateway move can have a significant user impact if it changes address assignment or stateful traffic paths. We schedule the work around the business need and retain practical access for recovery. Automation is used where supported. But it does not replace approval or verification of the proposed change.
Leave an operating model, not just a deployed topology
Handover includes diagrams, role assignments, segmentation intent, external-routing policy and the evidence required for incident investigation. We establish who owns dashboard access, platform upgrades and changes to shared services. Monitoring should distinguish a lost redundant path from a complete outage and give the receiving team enough context to act appropriately.
MCI provides Cisco and Meraki network services across the UK. We can deliver a fabric assessment, detailed design, migration or ongoing operational support as separately defined work. An initial discussion should identify the current campus, the problem you want to solve and the service constraints. That lets us recommend a proportionate architecture rather than assuming a fabric is the default destination for every network refresh.
