Cisco networking should be designed around the services your organisation needs to run, not a list of products to buy. MCI provides specialist engineering for Cisco switching, routing and network management, helping you make sound design decisions and carry them through to a working environment. We can support a defined technical requirement or the wider relationship between several network systems.

Our Cisco and Meraki network services serve organisations across the UK. The depth of the requirement matters more than a simple employee count: a relatively small business can still depend on complex routing, external market connections or carefully controlled application paths.

01

Cisco-focused engineering

Design around the platform, traffic and failure behaviour you actually operate.

02

Change with evidence

Use pre-checks, acceptance criteria and a documented route back.

03

Operational handover

Keep the configuration, diagrams and responsibilities understandable after delivery.

Build a campus network with an operating model

Catalyst switching services cover the role of the wired network in connecting users, applications and supporting devices. The design needs to consider physical connections, segmentation, capacity and how the environment will be maintained.

For organisations considering a fabric-based campus approach, Cisco SD-Access requires a clear understanding of the operational model and its dependencies. It should solve a real requirement rather than introduce complexity simply because a newer architecture is available.

Cisco Catalyst Center can form part of the management discussion where the platform and functions are suitable. We assess the intended work, supported estate and administrative responsibilities before defining an implementation.

Make routing decisions explicit

IP routing connects networks, but the design needs to explain which paths should be used and how changes are controlled. That includes internal segments, external providers and the return traffic required by applications.

BGP routing needs particular attention to route policy and ownership at organisational boundaries. A connection should exchange the routes it is intended to exchange, not depend on an unexplained configuration inherited from a previous supplier.

We can review an existing arrangement, design a new handoff or investigate behaviour during failure and recovery. The appropriate service depends on whether you need a decision, an implementation or help with a live operational problem.

Handle specialist traffic and environments

IP multicast requires a design that accounts for sources, receivers and the network paths between them. In financial services, the requirement may involve market-data distribution and carefully coordinated provider handoffs.

MCI works with CME and ICE on a daily basis on behalf of clients using their market-data services. Financial-market multicast connects that operational context to the client-side Cisco network, without implying that the providers are MCI customers or endorsers.

Industrial networking introduces a different set of operating constraints. Equipment roles, maintenance restrictions and coordination with the owners of operational systems need to be established before network changes are proposed.

Choose engineering work that matches your stage

If you are deciding what to build, consultancy or a design review can identify options and dependencies. If the design is already agreed, installation and migration services can organise the transition and acceptance tests.

For an existing estate, an audit may be the most useful first step. It can recover essential information or examine a particular concern without committing you to a replacement programme before the evidence is understood.

Cisco network support provides a route for faults and escalations. A project and an ongoing support commitment should remain separately defined so that both the delivery and operational responsibilities are clear.

Assess cost across the life of the service

A hardware quotation does not describe the full cost of a network. Licensing, support, implementation, documentation and the effort required to operate the chosen design also matter.

We help make those assumptions visible within the scope. Where equipment supply is required, it should be coordinated with the technical requirement rather than allowed to dictate the design before compatibility and operational fit are established.

The same discipline applies to renewal. Product-specific lifecycle information must be checked when planning change, and an older platform should not be declared obsolete solely because a newer option exists.

Cisco networking questions

Can you work on a network designed by another supplier?

Yes, subject to a suitable scope and access arrangement. We establish the current state and relevant design intent first. Where records are incomplete, discovery may be necessary before a reliable support or change commitment can be made.

Do we need a large IT department to use your services?

No. We can work with an internal team or provide specialist input where networking is only one part of someone’s role. The important questions are the technical requirement, decision authority and the support model you need afterwards.

Can you retain equipment from other manufacturers?

Where appropriate, multi-vendor integration can connect retained systems to the Cisco environment. Suitability and boundaries are assessed individually. Our main expertise remains Cisco and Meraki, rather than an unsupported claim of equal depth across every product family.

Where do we start with a new requirement?

Use our contact page to explain the business change, affected sites and current platform. A high-level outline is enough initially. We will identify whether consultancy, design, project delivery or operational support is the most useful starting point.

What does your network need next?

A new project, an inherited network or a problem that needs a second opinion. Tell us where you are starting; we will help define the right next step.
