Average response is not a resolution time or a contractual guarantee. Support scope and response commitments are agreed for each engagement.

Cisco ACI deployment builds the fabric, controllers and access rules in planned stages. We prepare the site, bring devices into service and test the paths used by real workloads. The handover covers the agreed support tasks. This gives your team evidence that the fabric works for its purpose, beyond a healthy dashboard.

01

Workload-led design

Start with application, compute and storage dependencies rather than the switch model.

02

Clear failure domains

Understand which links, devices and sites can fail together.

03

Operational clarity

Make fabrics, external routing and management responsibilities supportable.

Confirm design decisions and prerequisites

Before installation, we review the approved topology, hardware roles, software releases, addressing and policy schedules. The equipment and entitlements must match the design. Unresolved choices about bridge domains, endpoint groups or external routing are addressed before production workloads are attached. Deployment is not used as an opportunity to make unreviewed architectural decisions during a change window.

The plan sets out facilities, server, security and app dependencies. Rack power, cabling, management network access, identity services and required external access are checked against the actual site. We agree who will check each part of the service and who can authorise a deviation. Acceptance criteria and rollback boundaries are established while there is still time to correct missing preparation.

Establish the fabric infrastructure safely

Controller and switch preparation follows the guidance applicable to the chosen platform and release. We check physical connections, expected device identity and fabric discovery. Unexpected equipment or topology is investigated rather than accepted automatically. The initial setup establishes protected management access, time and name services, logging and the service records needed to support later work.

The rollout record distinguishes infrastructure health from app readiness. A discovered leaf can be healthy while its endpoint-facing policy is incomplete. We therefore use staged checks, confirming the intended controller and fabric state before moving on to access policies and tenant services. This provides clear stopping points and makes it easier to isolate a problem introduced at a particular stage.

Apply reviewed access and tenant policies

Interface, domain and pool setup is aligned with the approved endpoint attachment design. We check that the physical and virtual teams use the same VLAN and connection assumptions. Broad default access is not introduced merely to accelerate initial testing. Any temporary exception has an owner, approval and removal condition.

Tenant objects are created from the agreed model, including routing contexts, bridge domains, endpoint groups and contracts as required. Naming and descriptions help the operations team understand the business purpose of each object. We review the actual relationships between policies, not only whether the objects exist. An apparently complete setup can still leave traffic classified or permitted differently from the design.

Bring external connectivity into service

L3Out and security integrations are activated with the relevant external teams available to check their side. We check neighbours, routes, intended advertisements and return paths before moving production traffic. The connection to the rest of the enterprise is not assumed to work simply because the fabric itself can reach its controllers.

Virtualisation and other platform integrations are introduced only after their prerequisites and supported versions have been confirmed. Service accounts and certificate duties are documented. We establish whether the integration is observing or managing setup and how conflicts with current tools will be avoided. Ownership must remain clear when more than one system can change the setup.

Validate applications and authorised failure cases

The acceptance plan uses representative workloads and the flows approved by app owners. We test required communication, important shared services and denied paths where practical. Endpoint learning, policy state and actual forwarding are examined together. This helps distinguish a fabric setup issue from an app or external-service dependency.

Resilience tests are agreed and bounded. They may include chosen link or node failures, but not every disruptive scenario is appropriate on a live service. We record observed interruption and recovery and identify tests not performed. Restoration is checked as carefully as failure so that the network is not left in an unexpected or degraded state after an otherwise successful exercise.

Hand over a fabric the team can operate

The final records include the delivered topology, policy structure, access procedures, software information and test evidence. Monitoring, setup protection and maintenance duties are confirmed. Open issues remain visible with owners and next actions. Knowledge transfer uses the customer’s actual setup, including how to add a service and investigate a representative fault.

MCI can deliver a new rollout or provide specialist assistance within a customer-led programme. Our broader Cisco ACI service includes design, migration and operational troubleshooting. UK on-site and remote work is agreed according to the project. Provide the approved design and intended workload cutover sequence to begin, and the proposal will distinguish rollout tasks from the app and infrastructure prerequisites owned by other teams.
