response time
Average response is not a resolution time or a contractual guarantee. Support scope and response commitments are agreed for each engagement.
Cisco secure web gateway integration sends selected web traffic through supported access and inspection rules. We plan the route and identity mapping for your devices and branches, then test legitimate browsing and business apps. The scope states which traffic is covered. A cloud subscription alone does not mean every internet connection is inspected.
Defined trust
Make access boundaries explicit rather than relying on an assumed internal network.
Controlled access
Connect identity, policy and network enforcement to the services people actually use.
Evidence for change
Test the intended security outcome and retain useful operational records.
Identify which traffic needs the gateway
We establish the users, devices and sites in scope, together with the apps that rely on web protocols. Browser traffic, background agents and server connections can have different steering needs. A policy designed only around an interactive laptop may miss traffic from unmanaged or non-interactive systems.
The customer also identifies approved exclusions and services with particular performance or privacy needs. Those decisions are documented before rollout. An exception should have a reason and owner, not be added broadly whenever an app behaves differently through the gateway.

Choose the supported steering method
Endpoint components, clear proxy settings and branch tunnels can each introduce different dependencies. We assess the supported Cisco approach for the actual device population and topology. The design explains which traffic enters the gateway, which remains on another path and how that division is checked.
DNS and routing are reviewed alongside the steering setup. A connection can resolve correctly but take a path that bypasses the intended policy, or be sent to inspection while its authentication dependency is inaccessible. We test the complete workflow rather than treating a healthy tunnel or installed client as proof of coverage.
A useful starting point

Bring the requirement. We will help you define the engineering work.
Map users and sites to policy
Identity context should be reliable enough for the decision being made. We establish the supported user or location identification and how it behaves on shared devices, remote networks and branch connections. An unknown identity needs a deliberate default, not an accidental unrestricted policy.
The policy separates business permissions from technical exceptions. Categories, app controls and destination rules are reviewed with the service owner, including how new requests are approved. We avoid promising that an app label always identifies every associated flow; important services are tested using their actual transactions.
Different environments. The same care.
Built around the work

Finance, banking and the wider private sector. We start with the systems and people that depend on your connections.

Market-data paths, routing and provider coordination on clients’ behalf.
Financial-market services ↗Offices & multi-site teams
Reliable access between people, workplaces and business applications.
Office network design ↗Data centres & cloud
Network boundaries, workload connections and operational ownership.
Data centre networks ↗Treat decryption as a separate design decision
Some inspection functions depend on decrypting chosen TLS traffic. That requires certificate trust, app compatibility checks and input from the customer's privacy and security owners. We do not enable blanket interception as an incidental step in connecting a web gateway.
The design records exclusions, certificate duties and the supported response when inspection cannot be completed. Managed and unmanaged devices may require different treatment. Users should not be instructed to ignore certificate warnings as a normal way to use the service. Where decryption is unsuitable, the remaining protection and visibility limits are explained.
Pilot real business workflows
The pilot includes browsing, collaboration, file transfers, software updates and apps that use unusual redirects or authentication. We compare performance and policy results with the current path. A public website loading successfully is not enough to accept a gateway used by a wide range of business systems.
Negative tests confirm that the intended restrictions are applied and that approved exclusions are not broader than necessary. We inspect the relevant event evidence and the user's observed result. A blocked page may be caused by the destination service rather than the gateway. So the assessment distinguishes policy enforcement from unrelated failures.
Plan outages and support boundaries
We find the dependencies on site network access, endpoint components, identity and the chosen cloud service. The customer agrees the supported response to an unavailable inspection path. Whether traffic is denied, restricted or uses an approved alternative is a clear risk decision, not a setting left unexplained in a template.
Support procedures show how to determine whether a problem concerns steering, identity, inspection or the destination app. Evidence is collected proportionately, with protection for URLs and other information that may reveal personal or confidential activity. The escalation route identifies the team able to change each part of the path.
A service account or background update process may not present the same identity information as an interactive browser. We include those workflows in the pilot and define their permitted treatment. Otherwise, a policy that appears successful for signed-in staff can interrupt automated maintenance or create a broad anonymous exception that was never intended.
Maintain policy after the rollout
The handover includes the coverage map, approved exceptions, test results and duties for client updates and policy changes. Periodic review should identify stale bypasses and new apps not covered by the original tests. MCI can deliver this integration within Cisco Secure Access or a defined transition from a current web-security service, with ongoing administration and vendor support clearly separated from the initial installation scope.
