Nexus Dashboard Migration
Assess migration from existing Cisco data centre management tools to Nexus Dashboard, checking supported paths, configuration ownership and service continuity.

Nexus Dashboard migration moves management tasks and records to a supported new setup. We check compatibility, needed history and which system controls changes at each stage. The plan also covers service continuity. This helps your team make the move without losing key records or leaving two systems in control of the same devices.
Workload-led design
Start with application, compute and storage dependencies rather than the switch model.
Clear failure domains
Understand which links, devices and sites can fail together.
Operational clarity
Make fabrics, external routing and management responsibilities supportable.
Inventory the current management estate
We find the current Cisco management products, versions, rollout model and the fabrics they serve. Older component names and newer unified releases can represent different supported paths. So the exact source and target matter. We review settings, credentials, integrations, scheduled jobs and service records that the customer relies on today.
The inventory also records which functions are genuinely used. Some dashboards or jobs may be obsolete, while a small custom integration may be critical to daily operations. We distinguish required migration items from historical clutter. This gives the customer a realistic scope and avoids transferring every setting without checking whether it remains appropriate in the target platform.

Verify supported migration and upgrade paths
Vendor documentation is checked for the actual source release, target release and fabric combination. A direct transition may not be supported, or extra preparation may be necessary. We identify required intermediate steps, rollout constraints and features that need separate treatment. No assumption is made that a backup from one platform can be restored into an unrelated target.
The plan distinguishes management-platform availability from fabric forwarding behaviour. Some tasks may continue while management is unavailable. But the customer still needs to understand what changes, visibility and recovery functions are affected. Maintenance expectations are agreed according to the supported procedure and the operating needs, without promising zero impact simply because the data plane is separate.
A useful starting point
Not sure where to start?
Bring the requirement. We will help you define the engineering work.
Decide configuration ownership during coexistence
Old and new tools may need a temporary overlap for observation or validation. We set out which system can make changes at each stage and how conflicting access is prevented. Discovery by the target does not on its own transfer authority. The team needs a shared record of which fabrics have moved and which remain under the previous workflow.
Templates, policies and exceptions are reviewed before adoption. A migration should not silently convert every current setting into approved intent or remediate differences without understanding them. We record deliberate local variations and identify gaps requiring engineering review. This is particularly important where manual changes have accumulated outside the former management system.
Different environments. The same care.

Finance, banking and the wider private sector. We start with the systems and people that depend on your connections.

Financial-market services ↗Offices & multi-site teams
Reliable access between people, workplaces and business applications.
Office network design ↗Data centres & cloud
Network boundaries, workload connections and operational ownership.
Data centre networks ↗Protect data and prepare recovery
Configuration exports, platform backups and relevant service records are captured using supported methods. We check the scope of each backup and the process needed to restore it. Credentials, certificates and sensitive topology information are handled through authorised storage and transfer methods. A migration archive should not become an unprotected collection of production secrets.
Recovery planning considers the point at which the old setup can no longer be resumed directly. New setup, changed integrations or altered data formats may limit rollback. We set out stop conditions and recovery options with the customer before the maintenance window. An arbitrary virtual-machine snapshot is not assumed to provide a complete or supported reversal of a clustered management-platform migration.
Pilot and validate operational workflows
A bounded pilot checks onboarding, setup ownership, visibility and the workflows that matter to the team. We compare the target’s view with the known fabric state and investigate discrepancies before expanding the migration. Monitoring, ticketing and automation integrations are tested where they are included in scope.
The acceptance record covers practical tasks rather than only platform health. Engineers should be able to retrieve evidence, perform an approved change and follow the recovery procedure. Historical data that cannot be transferred is documented with an agreed retention or reference approach. The customer is not told that everything has migrated when only current device inventory is present.
Retire the old environment deliberately
After the target is accepted, obsolete jobs, credentials and management access are removed according to the plan. Documentation and escalation procedures are updated to point to the new workflow. Retained archives have an owner and retention decision. The previous platform is not left running indefinitely as an unmanaged alternative control path.
MCI can prepare a migration plan for your team or deliver the transition as part of our Nexus Dashboard service. Related work includes platform upgrades and setup validation. Provide the current product versions, fabric inventory and critical integrations to begin. We will define the supported path, dependencies and evidence needed before the customer relies on the new management setup.
