Office network relocation is about making the new location usable when the business needs it, while retaining a controlled exit from the old one. MCI plans Cisco and Meraki network moves around circuit readiness, physical installation, application access and the staff transition. The network timetable is coordinated with the office move rather than treated as a task to begin once the furniture has arrived.
A relocation may reuse much of the existing equipment, introduce a new design or combine both approaches. We establish which choice is practical and how the business will operate during the period when the two locations may overlap.
A clear requirement
Turn the business need into a practical network scope with visible dependencies.
A controlled delivery
Plan implementation, testing and rollback before production changes begin.
A supportable result
Leave useful records, ownership and escalation routes behind.
Work backwards from the first working day
The opening date is a business milestone, but several dependencies must be complete before it. Circuits, cabling, power, cabinets, building access and equipment delivery each need an owner and a verified readiness position.
We identify which tasks can be completed while the old office remains live. Preparing the new network early can create time for testing and reduce the amount of work concentrated into the physical move. Where that is not possible, the plan needs a realistic account of the constraints.
A floor plan and occupancy schedule help establish priorities. Partial occupation may be workable, provided the areas in use have the necessary connectivity and do not depend on unfinished work elsewhere in the building.

Decide what moves and what is built in advance
Reusing equipment can be sensible, but it may prevent the new site from being fully tested until the old site is disconnected. New or temporary equipment may provide more flexibility, with additional cost that should be visible in the comparison.
We assess the condition and suitability of the existing Cisco and Meraki infrastructure rather than assuming it should be moved unchanged. A relocation can expose power, port or wireless requirements that differ from the previous building.
Office network design establishes the new site’s requirements. The relocation plan then determines how equipment, configuration and services reach that target without turning moving day into an unplanned redesign exercise.
A useful starting point
Not sure where to start?
Bring the requirement. We will help you define the engineering work.
Review the connections that depend on the old address
A new internet connection can affect more than browsing. Public addresses, remote access, supplier allowlists and site-to-site connections may need attention. Some services may depend on information held by an external provider rather than a setting your team can change directly.
We identify those dependencies and their lead times. A circuit being installed does not automatically mean every connected service is ready to use it. Application owners and providers may need to validate the new path before the old one is retired.
Where specialist financial-market connections are involved, the provider handoff and client-side routing are treated as explicit work items. They should not be assumed to behave like ordinary office internet access.
Different environments. The same care.
Built around the work
your network supports.
Finance, banking and the wider private sector. We start with the systems and people that depend on your connections.
Finance & banking
Market-data paths, routing and provider coordination on clients’ behalf.
Financial-market services ↗Offices & multi-site teams
Reliable access between people, workplaces and business applications.
Office network design ↗Data centres & cloud
Network boundaries, workload connections and operational ownership.
Data centre networks ↗Plan the move window and the fallback
The execution plan identifies the equipment sequence, configuration changes and checks needed before staff begin using the new location. It also records who can authorise a change to the plan if a prerequisite is missing or a test fails.
Fallback options depend on the circumstances. They may include retaining service at the old site for longer, using an approved temporary connection or delaying a particular migration step. Those options need to be examined before the old service is disconnected or a circuit contract is ended.
Cutover and rollback planning provides the detailed decision points. A fallback that exists only as “we will work something out” is not a reliable relocation plan.
Validate the new office before closing the old one
Testing should cover representative staff activities, wired and wireless access, meeting-room services, printing where relevant and connections to external systems. The aim is to verify the working environment, not merely confirm that the equipment has powered on.
We record outstanding issues and distinguish those that prevent occupation from those that can be completed later. The business can then make an informed opening decision rather than discovering the significance of an unresolved item on the first busy morning.
After the move, documentation, monitoring and support information are updated. Old circuits, access rules and equipment are retired through the agreed process, avoiding an indefinite overlap that leaves unnecessary cost or access behind.
Office relocation questions
Can you support moves outside London?
Yes. MCI provides network services throughout the UK, with particular focus on London, Kent, Sussex, Essex and Berkshire. The delivery plan accounts for the locations, access arrangements and mix of remote and on-site work required by the move.
Should the new circuit be live before moving day?
Where the project allows it, having the circuit available early enables useful testing. The required lead time depends on the provider and building arrangements. We treat circuit readiness as a dependency to verify, not a date to assume from a provisional order.
Can staff work across both offices during the transition?
That can be designed where the applications and connectivity support it. The plan needs to account for shared services, security boundaries and the eventual removal of temporary arrangements. Two occupied offices should not mean two undocumented network states.
What should we send first?
The old and new locations, target dates, floor plans and current connectivity arrangements are useful. Plan an office network relocation early enough for the network requirements to influence the move timetable.
