Network Migration
Move to a new Cisco or Meraki network through dependency discovery, staged change, rollback planning and validation of the services your business needs.

Network migration moves a working service to a new setup in controlled stages. We plan Cisco and Meraki changes around the apps, links and people affected. The job may involve new equipment, a site move, new addresses or a management change. The plan keeps dependencies, tests and recovery decisions clear throughout the move.
The target design is only part of the work. A live organisation needs to pass through intermediate states, and those states must be understandable and recoverable. We establish how traffic will move, how the result will be checked and what decision will be made if the new service cannot be accepted.
A clear requirement
Turn the business need into a practical network scope with visible dependencies.
A controlled delivery
Plan implementation, testing and rollback before production changes begin.
A supportable result
Leave useful records, ownership and escalation routes behind.
Understand what is actually using the old network
We start with the services that need to survive the transition. Addressing, routing, firewall policy, authentication and third-party connections can contain dependencies that are not obvious from the equipment list.
Existing documentation is reviewed against available evidence. Where a setup contains a historical exception, we establish whether it is still required before copying it into the new setup. Carrying every old setting forward can preserve problems; removing unfamiliar settings without investigation can interrupt legitimate services.
A discovery exercise or targeted audit may be needed before the migration can be planned reliably. That preparatory work is preferable to finding an undocumented dependency halfway through a maintenance window.

Design the transition as well as the destination
The migration plan identifies the order in which components and services move. Some changes can be staged without affecting users, while others require a coordinated cutover. The sequence should minimise unnecessary uncertainty, not simply group all available changes into one event.
Intermediate network access needs its own controls. Old and new networks may coexist temporarily, and the boundaries between them must preserve required access without creating unrestricted communication. Temporary routes, translations or policies need owners and removal criteria.
For organisations adopting Meraki, platform migration planning checks feature fit and setup ownership. For Cisco lifecycle work, a Cisco network refresh addresses the replacement strategy alongside the move of live services.

Bring the requirement. We will help you define the engineering work.
Bring application owners and providers into the plan
Network engineers cannot check every business dependency alone. Application teams may need to test a workflow, a carrier may need to change a handoff and a market-data provider may need to coordinate an access change.
We identify those participants and the evidence each must provide. Their availability can determine the right maintenance window more than the amount of equipment work. A technically convenient time is not necessarily a safe time if the people needed to check or restore the service are unavailable.
Communication to users is also planned. They need to know the expected impact and how to distinguish an anticipated interruption from a problem that requires escalation.
Different environments. The same care.
Built around the work
your network supports.
Finance, banking and the wider private sector. We start with the systems and people that depend on your connections.
Finance & banking
Market-data paths, routing and provider coordination on clients’ behalf.
Financial-market services ↗Offices & multi-site teams
Reliable access between people, workplaces and business applications.
Office network design ↗Data centres & cloud
Network boundaries, workload connections and operational ownership.
Data centre networks ↗Prepare the cutover and the route back
The execution plan includes prerequisites, a known starting state, checkpoints and the conditions for continuing or stopping. Cutover and rollback planning develops these details for the particular change.
Rollback is not always as simple as reconnecting the previous device. Address changes, changes to the settings on other systems and provider actions may affect the route back. Those dependencies must be understood before the migration begins.
Backups and records of the settings need to be usable, not merely present. The team should know which version represents the recoverable state and which actions would make that state harder to restore.
Accept the new service and retire the temporary state
Testing confirms the required app paths, access controls and recovery behaviour. Results are recorded against the delivered build, and any remaining exceptions are presented clearly to the person making the acceptance decision.
After acceptance, temporary network access and obsolete setup need a controlled retirement plan. Leaving the old setup partly active can create ambiguity about traffic paths, security policy and service ownership.
Documentation and support arrangements are updated to reflect the new state. The migration should leave the business with a network it can operate, not an unexplained combination of old and new systems that only the project team understands.
Questions about network migration
Can a migration be carried out in phases?
Often, and a phased approach can make the work easier to check. The design must account for coexistence between phases, including routing, security and support duties. A sequence of smaller changes is only safer when its intermediate states are deliberately planned.
Can you guarantee there will be no downtime?
The expected impact depends on the design, apps and dependencies. We find the likely interruption and the options for reducing it. Any continuity commitment must be grounded in the actual scope rather than used as a blanket description of migration work.
Can you migrate a network managed by another supplier?
Yes, with the customer’s authority and a defined handover arrangement. Access, setup information, licences and provider duties need to be resolved. The migration plan should not rely on bypassing ownership or assuming that third-party cooperation will happen automatically.
What determines the scope and price?
The estate, number of dependencies, preparation, maintenance windows and testing all influence the work. Discuss a network migration with the intended change and business deadline so those factors can be understood before a delivery commitment is made.
