Average response is not a resolution time or a contractual guarantee. Support scope and response commitments are agreed for each engagement.

A Wi-Fi validation survey checks an installed network against the service you agreed. We assess Cisco and Meraki coverage, settings and suitable client devices after a build or change. Results show what passed, what needs work and what was not tested. Access points being online is one check within that wider acceptance process.

01

Coverage and capacity

Design Wi-Fi around the spaces, devices and traffic that depend on it.

02

Secure access

Align authentication, segmentation and guest access with the wider network.

03

Measured performance

Validate roaming, interference and user experience instead of relying on signal bars.

Establish the acceptance criteria first

Validation needs a reference point. We review the design, intended coverage areas, client types and app needs, then agree the tests that can show them. Where the original project lacks clear criteria, we help define a practical assessment scope rather than inventing a pass threshold after measurements have been collected.

The criteria should reflect business use. A fixed workstation area, a busy meeting space and a route used by voice handsets need different observations. We also establish the expected user density and whether the premises are fully occupied. Testing an empty building can confirm important foundations. But it cannot automatically prove performance under the workload expected during a major event or a busy shift.

Verify that the installed layout matches the design

We check access-point locations, antenna arrangements, mounting and device identities against the installation records. Unrecorded substitutions or moved equipment can affect the result. The validation report distinguishes design assumptions from what was actually installed, allowing the customer to identify whether a problem requires setup, physical remediation or a review of the original plan.

The wired connection is checked where relevant to the agreed scope. Power allocation, uplink negotiation and interface errors can limit wireless service even when RF coverage appears satisfactory. We record dependencies that another team must resolve rather than treating them as outside the user experience. An access point operating with reduced capabilities should not be accepted solely because it broadcasts the expected network name.

Measure the service in the intended areas

We collect observations across the agreed spaces using a documented method and suitable equipment. The assessment considers coverage and channel conditions alongside the installed setup. Areas omitted because of access restrictions are identified clearly. A report should not imply complete-site validation when locked rooms or external locations were never inspected.

Measurements are interpreted in context. A strong signal may coexist with contention, interference or a client that transmits less effectively than the access point. We avoid relying on a single heat-map colour as proof of usability. Where the design targets particular apps, the relevant active tests provide evidence beyond the RF observations.

Exercise real connection and roaming workflows

Representative clients are tested for association, authentication, addressing and access to agreed services. We include the security method and client setup used, because a successful test on one endpoint does not prove compatibility with every device in the estate. Guest and corporate workflows may require separate checks even when they use the same access points.

Where roaming is important, we test the agreed routes while observing the app. We distinguish changes in radio association from interruptions caused by authentication or the traffic path. The report records the observed behaviour and the client used. It does not promise seamless roaming for every device merely because a particular handset completed the route successfully during the survey.

Record defects with enough detail to fix them

Findings should identify the affected location, symptom and supporting evidence. We prioritise issues by their effect on the agreed service rather than producing an undifferentiated list of every non-default setting. A clear defect record helps the installer or network team reproduce the problem and select a suitable correction.

Where the cause is uncertain, we state the next diagnostic step. Validation is not improved by confidently attributing every poor result to access-point placement. Client drivers, authentication services and upstream networks can all contribute. We separate confirmed observations from the explanation still being investigated, avoiding expensive physical changes where the evidence supports a different remedy.

Close acceptance with a defined residual-risk record

After corrections, we retest the relevant areas or workflows and update the acceptance status. Any unresolved limitations remain visible with an owner and a decision about further work. The final record identifies the tested setup, date, equipment and scope so it can be used during later incidents or refurbishment planning.

MCI can check an installation delivered by your internal team or another supplier, and one within our own Wi-Fi design and surveys engagement. The service provides evidence for a technical acceptance decision. It is not a blanket performance guarantee for future layouts or workloads. Significant changes to occupancy, devices or building structure should prompt a review of whether the original validation still represents current use.
