Cisco Secure Client Deployment
Plan and deploy Cisco Secure Client for supported remote-access requirements, covering client distribution, profiles and user acceptance testing.

Average
response time
Average response is not a resolution time or a contractual guarantee. Support scope and response commitments are agreed for each engagement.
Cisco Secure Client deployment installs the software and profiles needed for an agreed access or security service. We choose supported modules and plan certificates, distribution and gateway compatibility for your devices. Tests cover the workflows staff use each day. Support and recovery are included, with unnecessary components kept out of the rollout.
Defined trust
Make access boundaries explicit rather than relying on an assumed internal network.
Controlled access
Connect identity, policy and network enforcement to the services people actually use.
Evidence for change
Test the intended security outcome and retain useful operational records.
Select the modules required for the service
Cisco Secure Client can support different functions through its available modules and integrations. We establish which are required for the proposed rollout and check the relevant licensing and platform support. A VPN need does not on its own justify installing every security or telemetry component available in the package.
The scope identifies the endpoint operating systems, managed-device groups and current software that could interact with the client. Security agents, other VPN products and older Cisco client installations may introduce dependencies or conflicts. We review those conditions before deciding the package and upgrade approach for the pilot.

Prepare profiles and connection ownership
Connection profiles should use approved gateway names, authentication settings and behaviour appropriate to the service. We document who owns each profile and how updates are distributed. A collection of manually edited profiles across laptops is difficult to support and can leave some users connecting through obsolete or unintended paths.
The profile also needs to fit the gateway and identity setup. We check the required certificates, sign-in workflow and supported settings together, rather than treating endpoint rollout as independent of the access infrastructure. Changes to a gateway name or authentication method can require a coordinated client update.
A useful starting point
Not sure where to start?
Bring the requirement. We will help you define the engineering work.
Establish certificate and trust requirements
Users need to connect to a service they can authenticate correctly. We review trusted issuing authorities, gateway certificate names and any client-certificate need. Certificate rollout must account for device stores, user context and renewal, not merely the presence of a certificate file somewhere on the endpoint.
We avoid instructions that encourage users to ignore trust warnings. Where the pilot encounters a certificate error, the cause is investigated and corrected through the proper setup or issuing process. Our Cisco VPN certificate deployment service addresses the wider certificate lifecycle where that is a significant part of the project.
Different environments. The same care.

Data centre networks ↗Use the customer's endpoint-management process
The rollout method should fit the organisation's management tooling and change controls. We agree packaging, installation context, restart needs and how success will be reported. Devices that are rarely on the corporate network may need a different delivery path from office-based machines, especially when the software being changed is their main route to management services.
Uninstallation and rollback are considered before broad rollout. Returning to an earlier package may not reverse every profile or certificate change. So the recovery plan identifies the complete endpoint state needed. We also agree how failed installations are detected and assigned rather than assuming every device receiving a rollout instruction has completed it.
Pilot the real user workflow
A representative pilot includes normal sign-in, app use, network changes and the required authentication factors. We test relevant operating-system versions and user privilege levels, including devices with restrictive security controls. The goal is to expose differences that an administrator's test laptop would not reveal.
Tests also cover connection recovery, sleep and resume, and movement between trusted and external networks where those behaviours are in scope. An app may connect initially but fail after a state change. We record the observed behaviour and check it against the supported client and gateway setup before expanding the rollout.
Prepare support before the larger release
Users need to know what will change, which prompts are expected and where to get help. We prepare concise instructions appropriate to the deployed service, not a generic guide covering every Cisco Secure Client feature. Support staff receive a way to identify the installed version, relevant profile and useful diagnostic evidence.
Diagnostic logs may contain usernames, network details and other sensitive information. We set out how evidence is collected and transferred, with limits on unnecessary data. A support request should not require a user to email passwords, authentication codes or unrestricted diagnostic archives to an unverified address.
Maintain a controlled client lifecycle
After rollout, the customer needs ownership of upgrades, profile changes and certificate renewal. We recommend a pilot group and acceptance process for later releases, especially when the client supports critical remote access. A centrally distributed package is valuable only when someone remains responsible for keeping its setup aligned with the service.
MCI can provide rollout planning, package and profile preparation, or engineering support during rollout. The engagement can sit alongside your endpoint-management team without replacing its duties. Share the device population, current access method and intended functions so we can define a Cisco Secure Client rollout that is proportionate, testable and ready for ongoing support.
