Meraki network installation brings the dashboard configuration, physical equipment and site connectivity together as a working service. MCI installs Meraki networks with the organisation ownership, network structure, device placement and acceptance checks established before handover. The aim is a site that is straightforward to operate, not just a set of devices visible in a dashboard.

The work may involve a new branch, an office installation or additional equipment in an existing estate. We tailor the preparation to that situation and distinguish installation from a migration that changes live application paths or replaces another platform.

01

A clear requirement

Turn the business need into a practical network scope with visible dependencies.

02

A controlled delivery

Plan implementation, testing and rollback before production changes begin.

03

A supportable result

Leave useful records, ownership and escalation routes behind.

Establish dashboard ownership before enrolling equipment

The correct organisation and administrator arrangement need to be clear at the outset. We confirm where the devices belong, who owns the environment and which accounts are authorised to configure it. Temporary project access should not become the only route by which the customer can manage the network.

Licensing is checked against the intended organisation and deployment. Meraki licensing arrangements are not all identical, so the installation plan uses the applicable model rather than assuming that every customer has the same renewal and compliance behaviour.

Where existing devices are already claimed or managed elsewhere, the legitimate transfer process must be resolved. Physical possession of equipment is not a reason to bypass another organisation’s control of its management environment.

Prepare site-specific configuration carefully

A standard configuration can make repeated deployments more consistent, but the site still needs its own verified values. Address ranges, VLANs, uplinks, wireless settings and security policies must match the accepted design.

Templates and shared settings should be used deliberately. We identify which parts of the configuration are common and which require site-level variation. An inherited exception from a previous location should not become the unexamined standard for the next installation.

The work can include staging and preconfiguration so equipment is prepared before it reaches the site. Settings that depend on the live circuit or local infrastructure remain part of the on-site commissioning plan.

Check the physical and upstream dependencies

Meraki management does not remove the need for suitable power, cabling and upstream connectivity. We verify the installation prerequisites, including the connections required for devices to reach the relevant management services.

Access-point placement follows the wireless design rather than the nearest convenient cable outlet. Switch and security-appliance connections are checked against the intended port roles and network boundaries. Where the building or existing cabling differs from the plan, the impact is assessed before the installation is accepted.

For sites with retained Cisco or third-party equipment, the interface between platforms is tested explicitly. The fact that each side appears healthy in its own management system does not prove that the combined service is operating correctly.

Test users, policies and recovery behaviour

Commissioning checks should include representative client connections and the applications the site needs. Staff authentication, guest separation, local services and connections to other sites are assessed according to the design.

We also verify that the intended administrator access and monitoring information are available to the receiving team. A deployment that only the installation engineer can interpret is not a satisfactory operational handover.

Where resilience is included, the test plan defines the expected behaviour and the conditions under which tests can be performed. Dashboard status is useful evidence, but it is considered alongside the actual effect on users and applications.

Complete the handover and support transition

The records identify the installed devices, network placement, configuration assumptions and test results. Site variations are documented so future changes can distinguish a deliberate exception from an inconsistency.

The handover also makes the support model clear. Meraki vendor support, MCI engineering and the customer’s internal responsibilities are separate parts of the arrangement. Who investigates a fault, approves a change or renews a licence should not be left to an assumption.

For a transition from another platform, migration to Meraki addresses the cutover sequence and recovery plan. Once the site is live, Meraki network support can provide an agreed route for operational issues and technical assistance.

Meraki installation questions

Can you use our existing Meraki organisation?

Yes, with authorised access and a review of the intended structure. We establish how the new site or devices fit into the existing environment and identify any shared configuration that could affect other locations.

Can equipment be sent directly to a branch?

That can be part of the delivery model where staging, labelling and local installation responsibilities are defined. Remote preparation does not eliminate physical prerequisites or the need to confirm that the correct device is connected to the correct service.

Will the network work if the dashboard is unavailable?

The answer depends on the feature, device and dependency involved. Installation testing should establish the required service behaviour for the actual design rather than making a blanket promise about every cloud or connectivity failure.

What do you need to plan an installation?

The site requirements, equipment list, dashboard ownership position and circuit details are the starting point. Plan a Meraki network installation and we will identify the readiness checks and acceptance responsibilities for the deployment.
