Catalyst SD-WAN Cloud OnRamp work links supported WAN functions to the cloud services you use. The relevant features vary by cloud and use case. We check Cisco and provider needs, plan the traffic paths and test the connection. The chosen function must fit the actual service before live apps rely on it.
The whole path
Understand how sites, providers, cloud networks and security controls fit together.
Resilience that can be tested
Separate a second circuit from genuine end-to-end service resilience.
Provider coordination
Keep addressing, routing and escalation ownership clear across organisations.
Identify the cloud outcome being sought
The need may involve access to software-as-a-service apps, network access into a public-cloud network or another supported integration. We establish the exact use case and the current path from users to the service. Improving a branch's access to a public app is a different project from deploying routing infrastructure inside a cloud setup.
The assessment records app destinations, user locations, security inspection and the teams controlling the cloud tenant or account. An integration cannot be designed solely from the WAN side when another team owns routes, gateways and access policy at the destination.

Verify the supported feature and release combination
We review the current Cisco documentation for the specific Cloud OnRamp workflow, software versions, edge capabilities and entitlements. Cloud-provider prerequisites are checked alongside those needs. We do not assume every feature described under Cloud OnRamp is available on every platform or in every region and rollout model.
Existing management and setup arrangements also matter. The project identifies whether the integration can be introduced into the current estate or requires preparation, upgrades or a different supported architecture. Those dependencies are included in the scope rather than discovered after cloud resources have already been provisioned.
A useful starting point
Not sure where to start?
Bring the requirement. We will help you define the engineering work.
Design the complete routing path
We map branch and data-centre routes, cloud gateways, private networks and any virtual appliances involved. The design considers both forward and return traffic, including the effect of route propagation and overlapping address spaces. A tunnel or peering relationship being up does not prove that workloads have a usable path to the intended users.
Shared services and security boundaries receive clear treatment. Cloud network access should not merge previously separated setups by advertising broad prefixes without appropriate policy. We identify where traffic is inspected and which team approves route changes, especially when central WAN policy can affect several cloud-connected sites.
Different environments. The same care.
Built around the work
your network supports.
Finance, banking and the wider private sector. We start with the systems and people that depend on your connections.
Finance & banking
Market-data paths, routing and provider coordination on clients’ behalf.
Financial-market services ↗Offices & multi-site teams
Reliable access between people, workplaces and business applications.
Office network design ↗Data centres & cloud
Network boundaries, workload connections and operational ownership.
Data centre networks ↗Treat automation permissions as privileged access
A supported automated workflow may require access to cloud APIs and resources. We set out the necessary permissions, credential ownership and scope, following the actual integration needs. Broad admin credentials should not be used indefinitely simply because they made an initial demonstration easier.
The design includes credential rotation, audit records and removal of unused integration access. It also identifies what happens when permissions change or the cloud service rejects an operation. Automation must produce observable results and failures. A task being submitted is not the same as the intended infrastructure being created correctly.
Assess application performance and security together
Path changes can alter latency, inspection and public source addresses. We test the business workflow, including authentication and dependent services, rather than focusing only on a network measurement to a cloud endpoint. The best path for one app may not be suitable for another with different security or session needs.
Where performance-based decisions are supported, we agree thresholds and fallback treatment. The platform cannot eliminate a cloud app outage or create capacity on an undersized circuit. We distinguish the part of the experience the integration can influence from dependencies that remain with the app, provider or endpoint team.
Validate resilience and recovery costs
Cloud integration may create resources with separate availability and charging models. We review region or zone placement, alternate paths and the consequences of losing a virtual appliance or WAN connection. The customer needs to understand both the technical recovery and the capacity available during degraded operation.
Costs are checked against the actual proposed resources and current commercial arrangements. Cloud infrastructure, data transfer and software entitlements may be separate from engineering services. We do not publish a fixed cost estimate without the customer's account, traffic and licensing assumptions, and we identify resources that should be removed after a pilot or migration.
Hand over an integrated operating model
The final records connect WAN policy, cloud routes, resource ownership and escalation contacts. They identify the evidence needed to distinguish a Cisco control issue from a cloud-provider permission, routing or app problem. Ongoing changes should be reviewed across both sides of the integration.
MCI can assess Cloud OnRamp suitability or implement a defined workflow within a wider Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN service. Provide the cloud use case, site topology and current security paths. We can establish a supported design and acceptance plan without assuming that a product label guarantees compatibility, performance or seamless operation across every cloud setup.
