Check Point firewall integration brings a retained Check Point security environment into a clearly defined Cisco or Meraki network design. MCI works on the routing, segmentation and handoffs around the gateway, coordinating with the team that owns security policy. The aim is to preserve the intended control boundary while making authorised applications work reliably.

A network refresh can expose dependencies that were previously hidden in an older design. We establish how traffic reaches the Check Point environment, which systems manage it and who approves changes before treating a new connection as a straightforward equipment replacement.

01

A clear requirement

Turn the business need into a practical network scope with visible dependencies.

02

A controlled delivery

Plan implementation, testing and rollback before production changes begin.

03

A supportable result

Leave useful records, ownership and escalation routes behind.

Establish the gateway’s place in the design

We identify the relevant gateway arrangement, network interfaces and surrounding routes. Management access and production traffic are considered separately, with attention to the teams responsible for each.

The application requirement needs enough detail to define the authorised path. Broad instructions such as connect the new subnet can conceal important differences between user access, server communication and third-party connections.

Where several environments share the security platform, the scope must identify the one being changed. A local network project should not unintentionally alter access or routing for another business unit or service.

Coordinate routing and security policy

A permitted application still needs a usable route in each direction. We compare the intended network paths with the firewall owner’s policy and translation requirements rather than inspect either in isolation.

Changes should have an agreed sequence. A route introduced before the matching control is ready may create a different result from the completed design, so temporary states need attention as well as the final arrangement.

Security decisions stay with the authorised owner. We do not use broad temporary access as an undocumented shortcut when the actual application requirements have not yet been established.

Review cluster and recovery dependencies

Where the Check Point environment uses a resilient gateway arrangement, the surrounding network must be assessed against its actual requirements. Platform, release and operating mode are verified with the responsible team.

We identify the connections and failure scenarios relevant to the service. A recovery test should consider whether authorised application traffic resumes through the expected boundary, not merely whether another device becomes active.

Live tests require approval and suitable timing. Where testing is restricted, the handover distinguishes configuration-based assessment from behaviour that has been observed under a controlled failure condition.

Make implementation a joint exercise

Network and firewall teams often have separate change systems and maintenance schedules. The project plan should align those processes rather than assume one side can act whenever the other is ready.

We agree the baseline information, exact responsibilities and evidence needed for acceptance. If a change does not produce the expected result, each team should know which observations to collect before modifying further settings.

For a larger transition, cutover and rollback planning can document when to proceed, pause or restore the previous arrangement. Reversing only the network changes may not recover the original service if security settings have also changed.

Support the boundary after the project

The integration record should be useful during an incident. It identifies the expected traffic paths, management responsibilities and contacts needed to investigate across the gateway.

We also note temporary exceptions, untested conditions and dependencies that require follow-up. Those items should not disappear merely because the initial application test succeeded.

Use our enquiry page to describe the Check Point environment and the Cisco or Meraki work around it. We can then establish whether you need a design review, implementation assistance or a focused investigation of an existing boundary.

Check Point integration questions

Can our existing security team retain control?

Yes. The integration can be organised so that MCI manages the network work and your team owns Check Point policy and gateway changes. Both sides still need a shared understanding of the required service and acceptance tests.

Will every cluster design work with any new switch?

No blanket compatibility statement is appropriate. The exact gateway arrangement, switch platform, software and configuration must be assessed. We validate the proposed use case and refer to the relevant product requirements rather than rely on a generic vendor pairing.

Can you investigate a problem after a policy change?

We can examine the network contribution and coordinate with the policy owner. The timing of a change is useful evidence, but the investigation should establish the actual effect instead of automatically treating the most recent change as proven cause.

Is this a replacement for managed firewall support?

No. Integration is a defined project or investigation. Ongoing policy administration, monitoring and incident response need a separate service scope. Managed firewall services describes the broader operational discussion, subject to confirmed platform coverage.
