Managed Network Onboarding
Bring an existing Cisco or Meraki estate into management through access checks, documentation, risk review and an agreed transfer of responsibilities.

Average
response time
Average response is not a resolution time or a contractual guarantee. Support scope and response commitments are agreed for each engagement.
Managed network onboarding checks the network before it enters an agreed support service. We confirm the devices, access and records, then identify gaps and who owns each risk. The transition includes tests that the team can investigate and manage the estate. Adding devices to a monitoring tool is only one step.
Useful visibility
Monitor service-relevant conditions rather than collecting alerts without ownership.
Controlled change
Keep maintenance, automation and configuration work reviewable and recoverable.
Clear escalation
Connect incidents to the right engineering, provider and business contacts.
Confirm what is transferring
We agree the sites, devices, platforms and activities included in the new service. Existing support agreements, carrier contracts and licences are reviewed so their owners and renewal duties remain clear. A transfer of network management does not on its own transfer equipment ownership or every vendor entitlement associated with it.
The scope also identifies what is excluded or deferred. Unsupported equipment, unknown settings and unresolved access disputes may require remediation before acceptance. These findings are presented as decisions for the customer rather than silently incorporated into a service that cannot realistically meet its stated obligations.

Verify inventory against the live estate
Existing spreadsheets and diagrams provide a starting point. But they are checked against observable device and platform information. We record models, software, locations, roles and important network access. The aim is enough accuracy to manage the service safely, not an indiscriminate collection of every setting without a clear purpose.
We identify critical paths and single points of dependency. A small branch device can be more important to a business process than a larger switch elsewhere. This service context helps establish incident priorities and highlights areas where the customer’s understanding of resilience differs from the actual topology.
A useful starting point
Tell us what is happening.
A short description of the problem is enough for an initial discussion.
Establish authorised access and recovery
Administrative accounts, authentication, dashboard ownership and emergency access are transferred through agreed secure methods. We avoid collecting passwords through ordinary email or public forms. The customer retains appropriate governance access, and permissions are scoped to the work MCI is authorised to perform.
Access is tested rather than assumed from a supplied credential list. We confirm that the required functions can be performed and identify how the estate is reached when its normal management path fails. Old supplier and contractor access is reviewed for removal according to the customer’s approved transition plan.
Different environments. The same care.

Data centre networks ↗Assess configuration and lifecycle risks
The onboarding review examines management protection, logging, setup standards and obvious operational weaknesses within the agreed scope. It also records software support, hardware lifecycle and licence dependencies. This is a targeted service-readiness assessment, not an automatic certification or unrestricted penetration test.
Findings are prioritised according to service impact and exposure. Some need correction before takeover; others can become an agreed improvement plan. The acceptance record distinguishes pre-existing risks from new service obligations so neither party relies on an unrealistic assumption that onboarding has fixed every inherited problem.
Test monitoring and escalation
Devices and service checks are added with sensible thresholds and ownership. We check that representative alerts reach the intended destination and that operators have enough context to act. Merely seeing a device in a monitoring inventory does not prove that a critical failure will generate a useful notification.
Escalation contacts include customer decision-makers, carriers, vendors and other technical teams. The process states who declares an incident, who can approve emergency work and who communicates with users. Test exercises can reveal missing contacts or access gaps before the transition becomes operationally significant.
Transfer records and change control
Configuration protection, diagrams, addressing and relevant runbooks are collected or created to the agreed standard. We record where the authoritative information is held and who maintains it. Documentation that cannot be found or accessed during an outage is not a useful handover, however complete it appears in a project folder.
The customer and supplier agree how new changes enter the process during transition. A temporary overlap with an outgoing provider needs particular care so both parties do not alter the same setup independently. A change freeze or coordinated approval arrangement may be appropriate for chosen stages.
Make acceptance explicit
The transition concludes with a review of completed checks, open actions and accepted limitations. Service start, support coverage and any deferred duties are recorded rather than inferred from the date a contract was signed. An unresolved dependency should have an owner and a planned next step.
MCI uses onboarding for managed networks and co-managed arrangements across the UK. Share the current inventory, support model and proposed transition constraints to begin. We will define a controlled handover that protects continuity and leaves both teams clear about what the new service is ready to deliver.
