Network as a Service
Assess a provider-supplied Cisco or Meraki network solution, clarifying equipment ownership, licensing, management scope and end-of-contract arrangements.

response time
Average response is not a resolution time or a contractual guarantee. Support scope and response commitments are agreed for each engagement.
Network as a Service can bring equipment, licences and ongoing care into one agreement. The name alone does not tell you what is included. We help assess a Cisco or Meraki service against clear questions: who owns the kit, which changes are covered and what happens when the term ends? Technical and commercial duties must be stated.
Useful visibility
Monitor service-relevant conditions rather than collecting alerts without ownership.
Controlled change
Keep maintenance, automation and configuration work reviewable and recoverable.
Clear escalation
Connect incidents to the right engineering, provider and business contacts.
Define the business problem first
A customer may be opening sites, replacing ageing equipment or seeking more predictable operating costs. Each aim creates different needs for ownership, capacity and flexibility. We start with the sites, apps and growth plans rather than assuming that a subscription arrangement is automatically preferable to purchasing equipment and arranging support separately.
The assessment compares the proposed service with the current operating model. Internal staffing, vendor support, circuit contracts and current licences may already provide some of the required capability. A useful proposal explains what changes and what remains, allowing the customer to assess the whole commitment rather than a headline monthly figure.

Separate equipment, connectivity and management
The service specification identifies the Cisco or Meraki equipment, software features and management activities included. Internet or WAN circuits are listed separately unless they are expressly part of the agreement. A managed switch does not include unlimited bandwidth, and a provider-supplied appliance does not on its own include every licence or security feature it can support.
We also define duties for installation, setup, monitoring, incident response and replacement. These activities may be delivered by different organisations. So the customer needs one clear explanation of how they fit together. Dependencies on carriers and vendors remain visible instead of being hidden behind a single service name.
A useful starting point
Tell us what is happening.
A short description of the problem is enough for an initial discussion.
Clarify ownership and administrative access
Equipment may remain provider-owned or transfer under agreed conditions. The contract should state which arrangement applies, who insures or replaces the assets and what happens when a site closes. We do not assume that paying for a service creates an eventual right to retain the hardware.
Customer access, records of the settings and dashboard ownership are considered at the start. The operating model must protect the network while preserving the customer’s ability to govern its service and plan an exit. Any limits on admin access should have a clear reason and a documented route for authorised changes or information requests.
Different environments. The same care.

Data centre networks ↗Assess flexibility and growth
Adding users, sites or apps can change port counts, wireless capacity and security needs. We establish how the service accommodates those changes and when a redesign or price adjustment is necessary. An arrangement described as scalable still needs practical limits and a method for approving extra equipment or licences.
Contraction matters too. The customer should understand minimum commitments, site-removal conditions and the treatment of equipment no longer required. Technical flexibility and commercial flexibility are not the same thing, and a design that can change quickly may still be subject to a fixed contractual term.
Make service performance measurable
The agreement defines availability measures, support hours, response targets and the handling of dependencies outside the provider’s control. Detection, acknowledgement, engineering response and resolution are separate events. We avoid presenting one measure as evidence that every fault will be repaired within the same period.
Acceptance tests confirm the installed design and agreed app paths before routine operation begins. They also document resilience boundaries, such as endpoints connected to a single physical switch. A commercial service model does not remove the engineering limits of the chosen hardware and topology.
Plan lifecycle and exit arrangements
Software maintenance, licence renewal and hardware replacement need clear ownership. We check which lifecycle work is included and how disruptive changes are approved. A service that postpones every necessary upgrade can leave the customer with growing risk despite a predictable monthly payment.
Exit planning covers records of the settings, access transfer, equipment return, data handling and any overlap with a replacement supplier. The aim is an orderly transition rather than an abrupt loss of management or entitlement. These terms should be understood before signing, not negotiated for the first time when the business needs to leave.
Compare the complete proposition
MCI can assess a Network as a Service need and propose a defined Cisco or Meraki arrangement where it is commercially and technically appropriate. We can also explain when conventional procurement with managed networks may offer a clearer fit. No universal price or contract term is implied by this page.
For a discussion, provide the site plan, current ownership and the operational changes you want to achieve. We will separate engineering scope from financing, licensing and contractual decisions. So the resulting proposal can be assessed on its actual obligations rather than the appeal of a service label.
