Average response is not a resolution time or a contractual guarantee. Support scope and response commitments are agreed for each engagement.

Cisco licensing advisory checks what your planned design needs and what your current licences cover. We assess the relevant features and product families to identify gaps or unnecessary purchases. This is technical scope advice for the agreed network. Buying licences and interpreting contract terms remain separate parts of the process with their own owners.

01

Useful visibility

Monitor service-relevant conditions rather than collecting alerts without ownership.

02

Controlled change

Keep maintenance, automation and configuration work reviewable and recoverable.

03

Clear escalation

Connect incidents to the right engineering, provider and business contacts.

Begin with the required functionality

We find the features, platforms and operating model the customer intends to use. Routing, management, security and automation needs may have different entitlement dependencies. The assessment starts with those functions rather than a request to buy the most comprehensive licence tier by default.

The network design is reviewed for alternatives where appropriate. A feature may be technically attractive but unnecessary for the actual need, while another capability may be essential to the agreed resilience or management model. We explain those choices so licensing supports the design rather than drives it without scrutiny.

Reconcile the existing entitlement record

We review available inventory, account information and relevant purchasing records with authorised customer representatives. The aim is to distinguish installed capability, recorded entitlement and the permissions to use it. A feature appearing in a setup or interface does not alone prove that the customer holds the required licence.

Account ownership and access also matter. Entitlements may sit under different organisational records or be managed by a current supplier. We identify those boundaries and the approvals needed to get accurate information, without requesting unrestricted account access or assuming that a licence can simply be moved between unrelated entities.

Check the applicable model and conditions

Cisco products can use different licensing mechanisms, terms and feature tiers. We check the needs for the exact platform and intended software rather than applying rules from another product family. Subscription, perpetual and support elements are distinguished where they appear in the customer’s arrangement.

The assessment records which conclusions come from technical documentation and which require confirmation from the purchasing or vendor channel. Questions about contract rights, transferability or commercial exceptions are not answered by inference from a dashboard. Where the evidence is incomplete, the report states the gap and the appropriate confirmation route.

Assess implementation and lifecycle effects

A licence decision can affect more than initial feature activation. Management network access, registration, reporting and renewal processes may need service ownership. We check what the customer must maintain and which events should trigger review, such as a platform replacement, software migration or change in rollout scale.

Hardware and software support milestones remain separate considerations. Holding a subscription does not on its own extend every underlying product’s support life. The advisory work connects entitlement planning with the relevant lifecycle information so the customer does not assume a renewal removes an unrelated support risk.

Compare options without hiding scope

Where several supported licence choices meet the need, we explain the functional differences and operational implications. The comparison can identify capability that is needed now, capability that supports a confirmed future plan and features with no current use. This provides a better basis for purchasing than a list of product names without context.

Prices, discounts, terms and availability require a current commercial quotation from the appropriate supplier. We do not invent figures or present technical advice as a binding vendor offer. Equipment and licence fulfilment can be coordinated separately, preserving the distinction between MCI’s services and a hardware or licensing catalogue.

Plan application and verification

If the engagement includes rollout, we agree the authorised account actions and platform changes. The process records the intended entitlement assignment and checks the resulting feature state. Applying a key or changing a registration setting is not treated as complete until the relevant technical outcome has been checked.

Existing services are protected during the work. Licence changes, migrations or removals can have consequences that differ by product, so recovery and support escalation are considered before action. The customer retains the records and ownership information needed for future maintenance.

Deliver a clear advisory record

The output identifies required capability, available evidence, gaps, recommended actions and the party responsible for each confirmation. It avoids declaring blanket licence compliance from an incomplete inventory. Future changes to the design or vendor model should trigger a review of the assumptions.

MCI can provide Cisco licensing advice within network lifecycle management or a new design engagement. Share the intended service and authorised entitlement records first. We will help connect technical needs to an informed purchasing decision, with commercial commitments and legal rights confirmed through their proper channels.
