Meraki Licensing Advisory
Assess Meraki licensing requirements for the intended design, checking current models, feature access and the operational consequences of expiry.

response time
Average response is not a resolution time or a contractual guarantee. Support scope and response commitments are agreed for each engagement.
Meraki licensing advisory checks the licences needed for your actual design and account structure. We review devices, features and renewal dates against the model in use. The findings help define the technical scope. Purchasing, contract terms and the authority to change the account remain clear and separate decisions.
Useful visibility
Monitor service-relevant conditions rather than collecting alerts without ownership.
Controlled change
Keep maintenance, automation and configuration work reviewable and recoverable.
Clear escalation
Connect incidents to the right engineering, provider and business contacts.
Identify the organisation’s current model
Meraki networks may use subscription, co-termination or eligible legacy licensing models. Each model has its own rules. We check the current organisation and the guidance that applies to it. A model shown in a general comparison may not be one that your account can choose or move to.
The review records who owns the organisation, who administers licensing and which supplier holds relevant purchasing information. A technical engineer should not make account or licence changes without the customer’s authority. Where the estate has been inherited, ownership and access are resolved before renewal or migration actions are attempted.

Map licences to the actual design
We inventory devices and the features the customer needs to operate. Security, management and integration needs may depend on more than the hardware model. The assessment distinguishes what is deployed, what is licensed and what the proposed design requires, avoiding assumptions based on an enabled dashboard option alone.
Planned growth is considered with suitable evidence. New branches, replacement equipment or extra capabilities may alter the entitlement need. We separate confirmed changes from speculative possibilities so the customer can assess current needs without automatically buying the broadest available option for every device.
A useful starting point

A short description of the problem is enough for an initial discussion.
Understand dates and renewal behaviour
Licence terms and expiry behaviour depend on the model and product involved. We review the actual account information and applicable rules rather than applying one assumed grace period or operational consequence across the estate. The customer should know which dates require action and who receives relevant notifications.
For co-termination or other arrangements involving combined terms, the effect of adding or renewing licences is checked before app. A purchase duration does not necessarily translate into a simple new expiry date for every current device. We explain the relevant calculation or get confirmation from the authorised commercial channel where needed.

Data centre networks ↗Evaluate migrations and structural changes
Moving devices, changing organisations or adopting a different licensing arrangement can involve technical and commercial constraints. We review the supported path, eligibility and effect on current services. A setup migration and a licence transfer are separate questions, even when they are part of the same business project.
The plan records dependencies on vendors or suppliers and the point at which changes become difficult to reverse. We do not assume that a device can be unclaimed, moved and relicensed without affecting entitlement or management. Required approvals and confirmation are received before rollout.
Separate advisory work from purchasing
MCI’s assessment identifies the capability and entitlement required for the network service. A current commercial quote establishes price, duration, availability and contractual terms. We keep those roles distinct so technical advice is not mistaken for a binding vendor offer or an unsupported promise about future pricing.
Where procurement is coordinated with a supplier, the requested items are checked against the agreed design. The services-focused engagement does not become a product catalogue, and the customer receives a clear explanation of which engineering, migration or management work is included beyond the licence purchase itself.
Apply changes under controlled authority
When rollout is included, we agree the account actions, timing and verification steps with the authorised owner. Licence app, assignment or model changes are reviewed for their possible effect on current networks. The process records what was applied and where, rather than relying only on a purchase confirmation.
We check the account and required features after the change. Any mismatch goes through the right supplier or support route before more changes are made. Licence keys and account credentials are handled securely. They are kept out of ordinary documents intended for public use.
Maintain a usable entitlement record
The handover identifies models, relevant dates, ownership, notifications and outstanding decisions. Lifecycle reviews revisit the record when hardware, features or organisational structure changes. Removing a device from use does not on its own establish how its licence or the organisation’s term is affected. That consequence is checked under the applicable model.
MCI can provide Meraki licensing advice as part of network lifecycle management or a specific rollout. The outcome is a documented match between the intended network and its entitlement needs, with uncertainty and commercial confirmation points visible instead of hidden behind an assumed one-size-fits-all licensing rule.
