ISO 27001 network evidence support helps you show how agreed network controls work in practice. We prepare and improve Cisco and Meraki records of ownership, setup and ongoing checks. Your organisation still owns its risk decisions and certification scope. The auditor’s role remains separate from our engineering work and the evidence we help produce.

Defined trust

Make access boundaries explicit rather than relying on an assumed internal network.

02

Controlled access

Connect identity, policy and network enforcement to the services people actually use.

03

Evidence for change

Test the intended security outcome and retain useful operational records.

Start with the organisation's actual scope

We establish which sites, services and network duties sit within the customer's information security management system. An organisation may have several brands, suppliers or shared platforms, and their inclusion should not be assumed from a common network connection. The scope owner identifies the boundaries and the business services the evidence needs to support.

The work is then related to the customer's risk assessment and applicable controls. We do not treat every possible network control as mandatory in the same form for every organisation. The Statement of Applicability and other programme records guide the evidence needs, with questions about interpretation referred to the customer's responsible information-security team or auditor.

Reconcile inventories and diagrams

An asset inventory should identify the network equipment and services the organisation depends on, together with ownership and relevant lifecycle information. We compare inventories with management systems and records of the settings to identify omissions or stale entries. An accurate list supports change planning and risk decisions and audit preparation.

Diagrams should show meaningful boundaries, connections and dependencies without exposing unnecessary sensitive detail in every version. We can help prepare controlled technical diagrams and a suitable higher-level view for authorised assurance use. The records should agree with the implemented estate. A polished diagram that omits a provider link or management path can be misleading evidence.

Document access and administrative responsibility

Network administration often involves internal engineers, service providers and vendor support. We help identify the roles, authentication arrangements, approval processes and recovery access relevant to the agreed scope. Evidence may include role definitions, access reviews and records of how departed users or changed duties are handled.

The aim is to show a repeatable process rather than produce a one-off screenshot of current accounts. Emergency access and automation credentials need ownership as well. We avoid publishing passwords or sensitive recovery procedures in the evidence pack. The pack should show that the controls exist and are governed without distributing the secrets they protect.

Connect configuration standards to actual devices

A network standard is more useful when the organisation can explain where it applies, how exceptions are approved and how compliance is checked. We can help map Cisco and Meraki setup expectations to supported platforms and identify differences that need deliberate treatment. A single template rarely captures every device role correctly.

Supporting records may include approved settings, review results and remediation actions. We distinguish the written need from observed rollout and from planned improvements. A future hardening project should not be represented as a control already operating across the estate merely because funding has been approved.

Organise change, monitoring and recovery evidence

Change records should connect the requested outcome with approval, rollout checks and any rollback decision. We help identify the evidence available for significant network work and improve the consistency of future records. Routine changes and urgent incidents may follow different processes, but both need clear accountability.

Monitoring and recovery records also matter. Alert settings, incident examples, configuration-backup checks and restoration exercises can show how the network is operated. Their usefulness depends on the scope and quality of the evidence, not on collecting the largest possible number of screenshots. We record limitations where recovery has not been tested or a monitoring responsibility is unclear.

Address gaps rather than disguising them

An evidence review may find that a control is implemented but poorly documented, or that documentation describes a practice that is not consistently followed. Those are different gaps and should produce different actions. We help prepare a prioritised improvement register with owners and realistic completion criteria.

We do not backdate records, invent review activity or create retrospective approvals that misrepresent what happened. Where historical evidence is unavailable, the honest response is to explain the gap and establish a reliable process going forward. Engineering support should improve assurance, not manufacture the appearance of it.

Prepare a usable handover for the programme owner

The deliverable can include an indexed evidence set, updated network records and a clear list of open actions. Access and retention are agreed because setup and incident records may be sensitive. The customer's programme owner determines how the material is presented and maintained within the wider management system.

Our network security assessments can provide extra technical findings where required. MCI does not claim that this evidence-support engagement grants ISO 27001 certification or extends a current certificate to another legal entity or service. It provides accurate, scoped network records that help the organisation show and improve the controls for which it is responsible.
