Meraki platform migration moves your network to a new supported platform or management setup. We agree what must stay, which settings need to be rebuilt and how users will be supported during the move. The plan follows the reason for the change, such as a new provider, a merger or ageing equipment.
Dashboard clarity
Structure organisations, networks and permissions around real operational ownership.
Consistent sites
Use repeatable standards without ignoring the differences between locations.
Practical operations
Keep cloud management connected to physical links, users and business services.
Separate the changes before choosing a method
Moving a network between organisations is different from moving individual devices, changing a management mode or replacing hardware. These activities can have different effects on setup, licensing, historical information and admin access. We find the actual change being requested before preparing a method statement. Describing every activity as a migration can conceal important differences that emerge only after equipment has been disconnected.
The discovery record covers organisations, dashboard networks, device inventory, addressing, uplinks, templates, authentication and connected services. We also ask who owns each account and which external providers must participate. A supplier holding administrator access is not necessarily the owner of the equipment or the party authorised to transfer it. Those duties need agreement before technical work starts.

Decide what the destination must deliver
A migration offers an opportunity to correct weaknesses, but combining too many improvements with a cutover makes failures harder to diagnose. We distinguish required destination changes from optional optimisation. For example, retaining familiar SSIDs during an equipment move may reduce disruption, while changing authentication and addressing at the same time could require a separate pilot and endpoint support plan.
The destination specification identifies the features that matter to the business rather than promising a direct translation of every old setting. Routing, security rules, wireless behaviour, device policies and monitoring need their own acceptance criteria. Where the replacement platform does not offer an equivalent function, the difference is explained before purchase or rollout, with an agreed alternative rather than an assumption.
A useful starting point
Not sure where to start?
Bring the requirement. We will help you define the engineering work.
Check the supported migration route
Cisco has different tools for different types of move. In some supported cases, a network-move tool can carry settings and devices together. We check the conditions and exclusions first. This includes the current organisations, regions, licences and linked systems. A tool appearing in Dashboard does not prove that your live network is eligible to use it.
For cases requiring a rebuild, we prepare the destination setup and a comparison record. Meraki organisation consolidation addresses the broader ownership and administration design. Device-level changes may instead require replacement procedures, new inventory assignments or physical access. The migration plan identifies which method applies to each component and where vendor assistance is necessary.
Different environments. The same care.
Built around the work
your network supports.
Finance, banking and the wider private sector. We start with the systems and people that depend on your connections.
Finance & banking
Market-data paths, routing and provider coordination on clients’ behalf.
Financial-market services ↗Offices & multi-site teams
Reliable access between people, workplaces and business applications.
Office network design ↗Data centres & cloud
Network boundaries, workload connections and operational ownership.
Data centre networks ↗Protect access and recovery options
Before changing the network or organisation assignment, we agree how engineers will keep access. We check customer-owned admin accounts, the identity service and emergency access. Local access may be needed to recover an isolated device. Credentials are passed through the agreed secure process. They do not belong in a general project spreadsheet or public enquiry.
Recovery planning follows the chosen migration method. We check which actions can be reversed directly, which require rebuilding setup and which historical records cannot simply be restored. Capturing settings is useful. But it is not evidence of a complete point-in-time restore capability. The change owner receives a practical recovery sequence, with decision points and the people needed to carry it out.
Prove the approach before a wider rollout
A representative pilot should exercise the difficult dependencies, not only the simplest office. We select a site or controlled setup that includes relevant authentication, VPN, switching and app behaviour. The pilot helps estimate the work required and exposes assumptions about endpoint compatibility, local access or provider availability before the main rollout begins.
For each production wave, we agree communications, maintenance windows and the tests required before the site is handed back. We check client network access, permitted app flows, expected isolation, dashboard visibility and operational alerts. An apparently healthy dashboard is one observation; business users and app owners must also confirm that the services they depend on remain usable.
Close the migration rather than leave a transition behind
Completion includes updating diagrams, asset records, support contacts and setup ownership. Temporary permissions, migration policies and redundant monitoring connections are reviewed and removed where appropriate. We confirm which organisation and provider now control each device, and who receives alerts after the outgoing team stops monitoring the site.
MCI delivers Cisco and Meraki network services across the UK, with a strong engineering base in Kent and particular coverage of London and nearby counties. Share the current platform, intended destination and business constraints to begin a migration assessment. We can define the scope, prepare the change and coordinate the handover without treating a dashboard move as proof that the whole service has been transferred.
