Managed Meraki networks combine Dashboard tools with people who own the work. We agree who approves changes, follows up alerts and investigates faults, including problems with provider links. The service is built around your sites and supported devices. Monitoring, changes and specialist help have clear boundaries, so you know what is included.

01

Useful visibility

Monitor service-relevant conditions rather than collecting alerts without ownership.

02

Controlled change

Keep maintenance, automation and configuration work reviewable and recoverable.

03

Clear escalation

Connect incidents to the right engineering, provider and business contacts.

Confirm the organisation and site structure

We review Meraki organisations, networks, device assignments and the business ownership behind them. The structure should reflect the customer’s admin and commercial boundaries, not simply the order in which equipment was first claimed. Inherited rollouts may contain inconsistent naming, unnecessary access or settings that no longer match the sites they serve.

Onboarding records hardware, firmware, licences and important dependencies. We check which services use the equipment and who owns connected circuits, identity platforms and apps. Devices appearing online in the dashboard are not automatically evidence that the full business service is healthy or within the management agreement.

Retain clear customer access and recovery

Administrative roles, authentication and recovery arrangements are agreed before taking over routine management. The customer should understand who controls the organisation and how authorised access can be maintained or transferred. We avoid making a supplier’s personal account the only route to managing an important estate.

Access for internal teams, contractors and automation is reviewed according to purpose. Privileged changes need traceable ownership, and credentials are handled through approved channels. The service also defines how access is removed when people or suppliers change, rather than relying on an occasional informal review of the administrator list.

Make templates and local exceptions understandable

Configuration templates and repeatable standards can reduce effort across sites. But they also increase the impact of a mistaken shared change. We review what is inherited, what is configured locally and which settings require a wider approval. A site-specific workaround should not be lost during a later standardisation exercise.

The change process distinguishes routine requests from alterations affecting security, addressing or several locations. We record the expected result, validation and recovery action. Where a dashboard feature has a different behaviour on particular models or firmware, that variation is checked before applying a broad setup update.

Monitor service conditions, not just device presence

Useful monitoring considers uplinks, VPN network access, wireless experience and chosen dependencies alongside device status. We agree which conditions generate an alert and what action follows. A branch may remain reachable while its backup path is lost or an important app is performing poorly.

Incident ownership connects dashboard observations with the wider network. Carrier, DNS, identity and app issues can look like Meraki faults from the user’s perspective. We investigate the agreed scope and coordinate escalation with evidence, without claiming control over a third party’s repair obligations or every service connected to the site.

Plan firmware and licence changes

Firmware maintenance follows a review of the relevant release, supported hardware and the services used at each site. Pilot locations and post-change checks help reveal problems before a wider rollout. Scheduling should reflect local business hours and the consequences of an interruption, not merely the convenience of a central administrator.

Licensing is tracked against the actual model and entitlement in use. Different arrangements can have different operational consequences, so expiry or renewal assumptions are checked rather than treated as universal. Technical licence advice and procurement fulfilment are kept distinct in the commercial scope.

Report performance and recurring issues

The service review explains incidents, changes, capacity concerns and risks that require a customer decision. Repeated wireless complaints or uplink instability deserve a targeted engineering action, not an endless sequence of closed alerts. Reports should identify the evidence and proposed next step in terms the business can use.

Site changes are also reviewed. New access points, higher user numbers or different apps can alter the original design assumptions. We agree whether the change fits routine management or requires a separate survey, design or rollout project, keeping the service boundary transparent.

Arrange a practical management service

MCI supports Meraki estates throughout the UK, particularly London, Kent, Sussex, Essex and Berkshire. We can take on defined network-management duties or work alongside your team through co-managed network services.

A proposal sets out the inventory, service hours, monitoring, engineering response, change allowances and exit arrangements. Cloud management makes some tasks easier. It does not remove the need for those agreements. Our aim is a Meraki setup with clear ownership and a reliable operating process, rather than a dashboard that only one person knows how to interpret.
